With what can only be described as a shocking winter ski season with only around 2m of snow all winter the bikes are out to play early!
Even though we left at around 10am in the morning the heat was oppressive, it seems crazy that in early April we’re seeing temperatures of around 25-30 degrees, this has left the trails without snow, dry and in great shape for riding.
The ski lifts haven’t started letting us put our bikes on yet, so the day started with a long climb from Chatel through Petite Chatel and on up to the Col Du Saix which has a vertical ascent of around 500m! That certainly got the muscles going.
Following our long climb we had a stunning traverse across to Lac d’Arvouin with some short sections of single track and tech’y root strewn climbs which meant you had to be on your game straight from the off. Once we had reached the lake which was only just still frozen we knew that it was all downhill from here with a 700m technical single track decent, I just doesn’t get better than that well maybe a cool refreshing beer afterwards!
It was great to put some miles on the legs and always a bonus to have a cracking ride out with friends, roll on the summer months!
