Out with friends riding the mountains above Montreux it just doesn’t get any better!

With no clients out it meant that a trip out with the boys from Chatel was on the cards! and where better to ride than high above Montreux in the mountains. Accessed via the extremely efficient Swiss rail network we were able to ride some epic back country descents from 2100m down to around 400m.

But its no terrain for the meek as the the descents are long and in places technical, with a flat out run taking around 40 minutes to descend the brakes and arms really take some punishment! But with views at the top like these who would want to be anywhere else……..

To start the day we took a rocky technical single track for around 500m of decent until we reached the forest line where the nature of the trail began to change to a fast flowing forest pathway with plenty of features and alternative lines. Luckily the rain had held off for a few days so the trails were dusty and fast, time to let the bike go and enjoy the speed. With the end of the run bringing you out in Montreux town its  just a case of jumping back on the train and heading for the top again, wow its so nice to have a day out on the big bike with no peddling and of course not bumping into the hoards of bikers in the Porte Du Soleil.

During the day three runs from the top were easily on the cards and with so many different possible routes down we were able to cover virgin ground throughout, from steep shoots, rocky single track, fast flowing paths and exposed ridge lines it truly was a day of classic Alpine riding.
